TRANSILVANIA MEA Winners and Losers

cinema documentary

The cinema documentary movie "TRANSILVANIA MEA Winners and Losers" shows a differentiated picture of conflicts in Southeast European life in the framework of the economic development after the end of the socialist system. The film refers to actual social and economic questions in Romania and their relation with Germany and the EU.

The film deals with the following matters: How is life of the people in Romania? Are the old traditions powerful enough to gain acceptance in an increasingly globalized system? What correlations and dependencies do arise with reference to the West? What are the causes for poverty and job migration and what impact does this have on the country? Who are the beneficiaries of the actual economic system and the EU support policy? How is the situation of minorities in the country like the Roma? Who are the winners, who the losers? In order to get to the bottom of these questions, we start a cinematic trip through Transylvania, this "country beyond the forests". We meet most different people who allow us a close view in their way of life. The common issue of our protagonists is their focus on their new role in a region of radical change.

INVESTOZILLA

A small horror movie with happy end. Supports the fux.eg!

Nine years ago we raised a project based on the former Frappant, Grosse Bergstrasse, that is most probably a better one than IKEA in Altona. Five years ago we founded the cooperative "fux", one year later we bought the Victoria Barracks. This has now become a small Horrormovie with Happy End: INVESTOZILLA.Every single equipment, the actors, costumes, camera team,  screenplay and music come from our house.

FABIAN DAUB

Documentary films, reports and short movies are my passion.

I was born in Aachen, Germany on march 9. 1972. After having obtained my diploma in the HfBK; specialized in Visual Communication, I studied film production at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Geneva. Since, I work as author, director and producer and established "Bildfolge Dokfilm".

During the last couple of years, I developed and produced two long documentaries: ROSIA MONTANA- Town on the brink and TRANSILVANIA MEA Winners and Losers. They have been presented in several film festivals and many cinemas and have won some awards. The film SÜNDIGE SPITZE has been nominated for the German-Polish Journalist Prize; the short movie ARCHITEKTURBÜRO SCHARRENHAUSER has been awarded with the Prize German Economy Movie. Newspapers and other media frequently reported about my activities. I live in the city of Hamburg, where I studied at the University of Arts. My office is situated in the former Victoria Barracks, now called fux-eG. With other film producers we operate the little program cinema fux-Lichtspiele jointly on a honorary base.
